My Life-Changing Blog Post

Make sure to take a look at My Weight Loss Blog Directory!!!

My Favorite Blog Post Ever

In writing about my favorite blog post ever I immediately thought of one post.  This post was written for my children.  You see, my first husband died when my children were very young.  He was a police officer and died in the line of duty.

In February, I wrote a post remembering the day and night that he died.  I tried to write down all the details so my children, now grown, could have the story of the last night of their father's life.

It was the hardest story I have ever written, but I also felt so much better after writing it.  I have had people comment that I need to write the rest of the story.  I assume that means how my children and I dealt with our new life without him.  I haven't been able to do that yet.

The link to the original post is My Favorite Blog Post Ever.

I hope you take time to read the story of the day my life changed forever.

Do you have a favorite blog post?  Why is it your favorite.  Leave a link in the comments.

    1. Launna, you are a fantastic writer! I never knew you had been in a fire and all the tragedy that surrounded it. You have definitely had a traumatic life, yet you are so positive.

That is the first time I have read the whole story about your David. I hope the story goes on to have a happy ending and you are together for the rest of your lives.

  2. I just read that post. I can't imagine how hard it was to write. He was so young.

My blog is only a few months old, so I don't really have a favorite post yet.

    1. It was hard to write, but it was something that I needed to do. I was surprised at how it all replayed in my mind when I decided to write it. I hadn't really thought about that night for several years. He will always be in my heart though.

  3. Thank you for sharing that post Betty. I left a comment over there. This isn't my favorite blog post ever but reading your post sort of reminded me of it:

    1. I copied and pasted your link but it said it couldn't find it. I tried to look it up but didn't have any luck.

Thanks for reading my post. I answered your comment on the other page.

  4. You really should warn people to get the Kleenex before they go read you post. I can't imagine having your strength at that age. My little sister's husband retired from the Michigan State Police. He lost his partner in the line of duty and every time he left for work she worried.

On a lighter note! My own favorite post -- I think is one I wrote just recently about my favorite aunt! http://amaraland.com/memories/2013/my-favorite-volunteer-and-inspiration/ I am going to go read the others!

    1. I am sorry! I am sure your sister really worried, especially after he lost his partner. It makes you feel so vulnerable.

I'm going to read your post!!

  6. Thank you for joining up with my challenge and sharing your story. How terrible you and your children had to lose him. I have a six year old daughter and could just imagine how tough that conversation must have been for you.

    1. I have enjoyed the challenge, I hope I can keep up. Yes, it was terrible for us, but we are survivors and my children went on to thrive. That is what we needed to do to honor his memory.

  7. What a powerful post. How strong you had to have been to survive your husband's death and then raise your children on your own. Thank you for sharing it - that had to have been so difficult - but something your children need to have.

    1. Beverley, it took me a while to decide to share that story. After I wrote it I though about not putting it on the blog. I cried every time I thought about it for a while. I'm glad I posted it. Now I am proud of our story. It belongs to myself and my children, but I think sometimes others deal with things and it might also help someone else someday.

  9. So sorry your family experienced such a huge loss. The fact that he was a hero probably doesn't help take away the pain of losing a husband and dad.

    1. You are so right Angel! It doesn't take away any of the pain, but it does allow for lots of pride in him. My children were happy to grow up knowing their father was a good and heroic man.
