Friday Friends and Weight is Not Determined by Age!!!!

Today is a new day! This is the only day that counts!

I have decided to use Friday to say Thank You to some people who have motivated me each week.  I am just getting started and some people have been very kind and commented to help me through some things.  Others have motivated just by their posts.  I have spent a lot of time reading other people's posts.  There are some great ones out there!

This weeks  Friday's Friends are:

Believing in Myself

Sky n Surf
My Morning Cup of Coffee
Joyful Reflections
Remote Appeal

Thanks to all of you.  Take a look at their blogs, if you haven't already.  They are all very inspiring.  They are not all weight loss, just fun, interesting people.

Now on to other things.  I haven't gotten my work-out in today.  I do intend to do that in a few minutes.  The soreness has toned down.  As many people have commented, if you feel sore that is a good sign.  It means you have worked your body.  When I was too sore to move it didn't seem so good, but now I'm okay with it.  I guess it's time to really work my body some more then.

I have been busy today so I haven't gotten around to answering comments.  I apologize.  My husband has been on me to get my taxes done.  I started them the other day, so I worked on them a little more today.  I also have some taxes to do for a couple of my friends.

I went to have my hair colored today,  that takes half my day.  It looks good though, no more gray!  My gray seems to coming in more all the time.  I didn't have a single gray hair at fifty, but I sure do now.  I am getting older.

Does getting older mean that you can't be in good shape?  I am going to say a resounding NO!  I can't let age be an excuse for gaining weight and getting flabby.

I realize that as you get older you don't burn as many calories.  Is that just because we aren't doing as much?  When I was young I went non-stop.  Even when I had my last child at forty, I would go to the playground with him almost daily.  I would climb up the slide and run and play with him.  Do we need to play more?

I am sure if I showed up at the playground and started running and playing without taking a child with me, they would call the police.  People would think I had lost my mind.  There are other ways to play.

How about commenting and telling me how you play?

This weekend my grandson's are coming to stay overnight.  They are 5 and  almost 10.  I know they will find ways to play  the entire time.  I will definitely be playing and I will be exhausted when they go home.

I am going to focus on playing more.  I'm ready for any ideas you might have.

  1. I love to swing! At the park! With our without children. No one has ever said boo. It's just pure, unadulterated pleasure for me. :)

Have fun with the grandsons! I'll see two of mine tomorrow! YAY!

    And thank you!

    1. I can count on your response every day. Thanks so much. I think I am beginning to feel accountable to the people who read and respond. If it keeps me moving that's great. Yes, I swing when I go to the park, but I don't know if I would go down the slides and play on the other playground equipment, but I should. I just don't go to the park without children.

  2. Hi there Betty! You have inspired me! I was just talking to some friends earlier about my past work out regimen, where I'd get up at 4:30 and hit the gym until 5:30. This was daily for about 8 months - until one day it rained and my covers felt much better than my getting out of bed to get ready. It ended for about 5 months, then I started again with what I thought would be a good idea. BOOTCAMP! Well, I completed the 6 weeks of the sessions I committed too, but I was so exhausted when it was over, that I refused to return. And I was a little afraid of running into my coach. She was vicious! LOL! I am glad you are taking care of yourself. It's important; and inspiring. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

    1. m glad I can inspire someone. Maybe we can help each other to stay on track. I know exactly what you are talking about. I have exercised almost to the point of being obsessed and then one day something just gets off kilter and then I have a hard time starting. I am hoping that blogging will help me to continue so I don't have to tell people that I have fallen off the wagon.

  6. Don't look at my blog...yesterday's post was about cookies. You, my friend, are a born blogger, I am amazed that you're only a few weeks old. Yesterday I was bouncing around the blogosphere, and noticed that some bloggers follow 150 plus people. I follow about 22, and they are ALL fascinating, you included. Thanks for the mention, and good luck.

  7. As a general statement, we lose the drive to just 'play'. I forget to sometimes....but feel so refreshed when I do. :-)

    1. My son enjoyed it so much when I would play like a kid. My husband would laugh but he said, "Not bad for a forty something old woman".

    1. You can take great nature trails on a bicycle. And just have fun. The only thing is I don't remember it hurting my behind so much when I was a child. Maybe I was havIng too much fun or maybe I had a smaller behind.
