Spring Fever * Its hitting me already!

Today is a new day! This is the only day that counts!

I got up and looked out and the sun is actually shining.  We still have lots of snow on the ground, but it's melting.  We are supposed to hit 50 degrees in a few days!  Those of you in the warmer climates may not understand this, but the Midwesterners and the Northerners sure will.  It has been a long winter.  For some of you on the east coast who went through Hurricane Sandy right before winter started, it has been an extemely long winter.  I was in Europe when that was going on so I missed out on all that happened there, just saw reports after I got back.

Just that glimpse of sun started my imagine going this morning.  I was thinking about gardening.  I love putting out tomato plants.  I love my omelette in the morning with fresh tomatoes in them.  I can almost smell the tomatoes now.  I would like to plant other veggies but my husband wouldn't like me digging up the whole yard.  I have so many flower beds now.  He doesn't like mowing around all my gardening, but he loves when the flowers are blooming and adding lots of color to my outdoor life.  I have hanging baskets everywhere too.

When we sit in the hot tub I love to see all the flowers hanging from the pergola.  When I drive up to the front of my house I feel welcomed by my flowers.  Sometimes when I leave home I drive around the block just to see what the flowers look like when I'm driving by.  I guess the color and the beauty of nature tend to feed my soul.

The great thing about gardening is that I get loads of exercise and I spend less time feeding my face.
I can spend several hours a day doing back-breaking work with my gardening.  It seems difficult sometimes  to figure out how to get an hour of exercise in when I'm working out.  I have too many other things to do.  When I'm gardening I can work for hours and not realize how much time I have spent and then  I'll realize I have to get inside and shower and get somewhere, where did the time go.

The exercise involved in gardening includes hauling mulch, digging holes, bending over to pulls weeds, not to mention reaching out to smell the flowers.

I did my KettleWorx  workout today instead of the gym.  I had a few friend's taxes to do so I couldn't take the time to drive to the gym today.  The nice thing with that workout is I can just put it in the CD player and be ready to go.  My abs are really sore.  That's a good thing.  At least they are in there somewhere.  When I feel them it makes me feel like I am getting somewhere.  I'm not sure I like the CDs, but I really like the exercises.  It does feel like my whole body I'd getting a workout.

We get a trip to Florida in a few weeks, I will spend lots of time walking on the beach.  When I get back spring will be starting.

If you haven't noticed, I just realized I love any exercise that includes getting out into nature, but I'm a warm weather person so that doesn't include snow.  I can be out long enough to shovel and build a snowman or throw a few snowballs.  The great thing is SPRING IS ON THE WAY!

The flowers are not my garden, just some beautiful gardens I have visited recently.

  5. How about "finding my abs?" Isn't that your direct quote? Inspired by your son?

    1. I thought you have forgotten to post the pictures!

The obits are in local newspapers that haven't been digitized and are not online. I have two family history blogs and when I do research for them, I copy all the obits and put them out there for others who don't live close enough to go to the libraries. They have some really interesting stuff in them. I spend way to much time reading the papers as I go through them.

What to do Weekends sounds fun!
