FTSF - What's So Hard About That!!

Make sure to take a look at My Weight Loss Blog Directory!!!  I have been adding new weight loss blogs daily.

Here I am back with another Finish the Sentence Friday.  Janine from Janine's Confession of A Mommyholic is hosting.  This is such a fun link-up.  I love reading all the finished sentences.  I am so amazed at the many original responses.

I am also linking up with TGIF Blog Hop and Freedom Fridays Blog Hop.

And now for this week’s sentence to finish:  “The hardest part of my day is…”

And next week’s sentence to finish:  ”If I could have dinner with anyone in history it would be with…”

The hardest part of my day is when I have to make the decision,  what to fix for dinner.

Why is the decision is always mine?  I get tired of making the choices.  Do we have steaks, pork chops, salmon, or just something simple like chili?

It's the same decision day after day.  I just wish there was someone else to make the decision, occasionally.

When I ask family members what they would like, the typical response is, "I don't care!"  Other times, they will give me an answer and it's something that I don't have the ingredients on hand for.

Do you ever get tired of making the dinner decision?  Do you just feel that sometimes you have run out of ideas?  I certainly do!!

Making the decision just seems so monotonous.  It sometimes feels like I am just repeating the same meals over and over.  Meals are decided around what family members will eat, their likes and dislikes.  My husband is not much of a vegetable eater.  He's not crazy about fish.  He usually only likes it fried.  That's so healthy.  Not!!  My son and I will eat fish, so sometimes I will fix fish for us and a steak for him.

If I could choose what I wanted it would be easier.  I have to make a decision that will appeal to all members of the family.  I have to make the decision without knowing what everyone had for lunch.

Sometimes I make something and when they come to the table to eat, I get a look of disappointment and the response, "That's what I had for lunch."

My teenage son likes something really well for a while and then all of a sudden he doesn't like it anymore.  How can he love something one week and hate it the next?

Some days the family comes to the table and everyone is very happy with the dinner choice.  Those are the days when I am the happiest.  Jackpot!!  I feel appreciated for making them a delicious dinner.  I usually know what dinner choices will make them the happiest, but I can't fix the same meals too often or then they are bored with it.

If I make meat with mashed potatoes and gravy that seems to be a hit with the guys most of the time.

Many days I could just make something simple for myself and I would be happy.  I cant do that, because I am responsible for feeding everyone.

I think I like eating out sometimes because everyone can make their  own dinner choice.  Even then, the restaurant choice can be a major ordeal.  It seems we are all in moods for different style restaurants.

Is dinner one of the biggest decisions of your day?  Do you wish someone else would just make the choices for you?  Do you want to come over to my house and make dinner for a while?

  1. Do you plan your meals ahead of time when possible? If I'm doing the grocery list and people are around, I ask them what they would like for the upcoming week. That way I don't have to always decide what's for dinner.

I too have children who like one thing this week and probably won't think they like it the next. What's with that?

    1. I semi-plan meals. We have a busy schedule and are on the go a lot so the plans don't always happen. I will plan a meal for the three of us and then my son tells us he is going with friends so then I decide what I was making is too much for the two of us,

  2. I can relate to this! i'm running out of idea of what i should prepare for dinner most of the time. do you keep meal planning for say, a week? I try to plan my meal a week in advance. maybe this system will help.

    1. I think sometimes the problem is what I have planned doesn't sound good to me on the day I am ready to fix it. Same thing with my husband or the fact that they had something similar for lunch. I do better when I just start something in the crock pot that morning.

  3. I am with you on that I am very simple person when it comes to eating and dinner truly is a hard meal to plan when you have to please three other people, especially when two of them change their mind in less time then it takes to make said food. So, totally relate on this and thank you for linking up with us again. Have a great weekend!! :)

    1. I enjoy your hop!! I guess as a mother you have to figure out how to please your entire family. I think when my son moves to college my husband and I will be eating a lot simpler.

  4. I hear you. It's hard to please everyone all of the time and especially when no one can answer the question "What would you like for dinner?".

    1. I think it would be so much easier if someone just gave me a menu for the month and said this is it. No complaints allowed from anyone!!

  5. Yup - that is a good answer. I kind of try to preplan but even that gets boring at times. :)

  6. Well, since I became fully primal, dinner just isn't such an 'occasion' for me anymore...food is simply fuel. I make what I like to eat. If he wants something else, he cooks it. It's much easier when there's only 2 of you. Now that I've added intermittent fasting a few times a week (which means no dinner for me), he's learning that I can sit there and drink iced tea while he eats, and it's okay for both of us. It's really a relief to not have to struggle with a menu quite so much.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. It must be nice that he cooks his own. My husband likes to have his food prepared for him. Since I am not working anymore, I feel like I should prepare dinner. My son is always hungry so I spend a lot of time feeding him.

  7. I am almost always derailed by the what to make for dinner decision- I totally struggle with this problem, too! I know it would be solved if I could just plan ahead and schedule meals at the beginning of the week, but...somehow this never works out for me! Thanks for linking up!

    1. It seems when I do have things planned they don't work out. My son will come home and say something like. There is a mandatory parent's meeting at school tonight. There goes the time to prepare food! So then it's hurry up and get something fixed. During baseball season we were gone every evening. Lots of hurry up and grab something type meals.

  8. I love eating out for a million reasons but not having to decide what's for dinner is at the top of the list (well, number 2 actually as not wanting to make dinner is number 1 for wanting to go out!).

    1. I agree with that. I like be able to just choose what I want and not having to make others happy.

  9. That does sound like a pain to organise. Husby and I make a menu plan at the beginning of the week then shop for it and stick to it. We do tend to repeat recipes, but because we keep everything written in one book, we can look back over past meals for inspiration when we hit a wall.

    1. Maybe when it is just my husband and I we will try to do that. If I can get him to cooperate.

  10. I am a planner. I plan my menus a week ahead of time and then when I go to the grocery store I only buy the items needed for those meals. It keeps my grocery budget down and makes dinner prep much easier :)

    1. I am not a good meal planner. I am going to try to work on that in the next year. Maybe that will help!!
