Do you want to lose your weight? I have found that eating the Paleo/Primal/Low Carb way is a great way to lose your weight. I try to eat mostly real foods.
My diet:
Lean Meats
Fish
Fruits
Berries
Vegetables
Natural Oils and Fats
Nuts
Eggs
Cheese
Cheese doesn't fit into the Paleo category, but I seem to do well eating it.
I have lost weight and really lost belly fat.
I have found that eating real foods just seems to be so easy and you don't have the cravings you get when you eat processed foods and sugar.
I am not perfect with eating real foods, but I use this as my guideline and try to keep a large percentage of my foods within the real food category.
This makes so much sense. I would love to work my way towards that type of lifestyle. It seems quite overwhelming right now, but I'm sure it's not so hard to get used to as I make it out to be. You are doing fantastic so the proof is in the pudding!

Kristin, it really didn't take long to get used to. I lost all cravings pretty quickly.
DeleteI too eat real food, I also eat some healthy whole grain items... I have been very successful. Keep up the great work Betty :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been very successful. I just can't do the grains after ready the book "Wheat Belly".
DeleteI know a lot of people have this issue... lucky for me that is not where I carry my weight, the weight that I did have there has been disappearing. My weight is in my butt and thighs :) I do not eat a lot of grains but I have not given it up completely :)
DeleteI'm trying to live by the same philosophy of eating real food but am doing it through WW. It's all about what works, right? I always have an inspirational background on my computer and the current one says "The problem is we are not eating food anymore. We are eating food-like products". It's amazing how nature gives us what we really need.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! Do what works for you. I really think people need to be eating real food though. It only makes sense that getting your vitamins and minerals from nature is better than eating man made foods.
DeleteI have a lot of tummy issues, and the more processed something is, the more it upsets my stomach. Makes you wonder just how well-designed our bodies are to digest and process canned food or fast food or soda, etc!
ReplyDeleteWhen I started eating this way I got rid of all the indigestion! I guess our bodies know the difference between crap and real food.
DeleteVery good advice! I think the convenience of fast food combined with busy schedules is part of the obesity problem. Just getting out in the kitchen and actually cooking will help burn calories, too!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. So many things are now filled with sugar too! If we just cook real food at home we know what exactly were getting and doing a little calorie burning with it!
DeleteGood going Betty.I'm on diet and I also prefer real food,it is healthy and really works. Now I don't care much about the diet plan.:)
ReplyDeleteHappy to have found your blog! Will be reading through over the week. I am over 50, a wife, mama and Nana...and although I thought I was eating well, my trunk has too much junk!! Just bought the book Wheat Belly and trying to ease more into a paleo eating lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteYou are looking great. My diet is very similar to yours although I do eat whole grains. Mainly oatmeal. Like you I have limited cravings, which I am so very surprised about. I do allow myself 2 cheat meals on the weekends as long as I accomplish my clean eating the rest of the week.
