Healthy Weight!
I have 5 pounds to go to get to a healthy weight on the BMI calculator. 5 more pounds puts me in the normal range!! I have now lost 30 pounds!
For those who wonder what I am doing. I am eating a Paleo/Primal/Low Carb eating plan. I am not staying completely Paleo because I eat cheese. I eat meats, eggs, cheeses, nuts, and lots of fruits and vegetables. I have also been following The 100 diet. I don't restrict the amount I eat, I just eat when I'm hungry. I have never been one to cut back extremely on calories.
Following The 100 diet you eat a maximum of 100 sugar calories a day. That doesn't sound bad but all carbs are sugar calories. Each gram of carbs is multiplied by 4 to determine the sugar calories content. So basically you stick to 25 carbs per day. I haven't kept a close count on my carbs. I do eat fruits and vegetables and the sugar calories add up. I stay mostly with vegetables, but if I am wanting a sweet taste then I have some fruit. Fruit taste really good and sweet if you haven't been eating sugar for a while.
I have noticed that if I eat something that has sugar in it I can tell it immediately. It tastes way too sweet for me. When I eat out sometimes the food is prepared with some added sugar. I usually don't like the taste because it is too sweet. And yes, I do eat out! I have to have a normal life or I can not maintain my new lifestyle.
The great think is I don't feel like I am on a diet anymore. At the beginning I did. On the first four weeks of The 100 the diet is very disciplined. The give you a meal plan or food options to stick to. One of those weeks I dropped 6 pounds. I guess if I wanted to eat like that long term I could lost much faster. I am happy with the weight that I am losing. The fat is just melting away. I can't believe how much flatter much stomach has gotten!

DeleteThanks! It feel great to have the weight off!
DeleteCongrats! I can't wait to get into the healthy range!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin. Just stick with it and it will happen.
DeleteDoing great, Betty! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You are a good example!
DeleteWow! Congratulations! Both for sticking to it and for choosing healthy foods to change your life. I've also slowly gotten rid of most sugar, though I'll eat the occasional treat. I weaned myself off sugar in fruit smoothies by changing to honey first, then just fruit and milk. Bananas are plenty sweet enough, as you say, once you get used to not having sugar in everything. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's fantastic. Well done, you must be feeling great. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I can definitely see a difference in your photos! You are doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteYou look great, Betty. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteYour side view is very different - all of that stomach (visceral) fat you had is melting away! I am the same way with my eating, as you know, and after awhile you just don't even think about it being a diet. I can't imagine eating any other way now.
ReplyDeleteYou look really great! I don't know how you've managed it but you've lost weight in all the right places and lost none of your curves :)
ReplyDeleteYou are looking fabulous Betty... I kind of wish I had taken pictures when I was 30 pounds heavier.. but I didn't... Keep going... you are doing great :)
ReplyDeleteYou look terrific! Congratulations! I think your mention of how you don't even feel like you are dieting now is an encouragement to others. Once you get past that initial instinct to just eat "whatever, whenever" I'm sure it gets easier to keep going.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work! You really are encouraging others and you do look great!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I need to do this. I've been trying and failing. Did the Atkins and lost 30 lbs 10 years ago - I'm looking into yours:) You look fabulous!
