What Do I Want to Do Before I "Kick the Bucket"?

Make sure to take a look at My Weight Loss Blog Directory!!!

My Bucket List

This weeks Finish the Sentence Friday blog hops sentence is

My bucket list includes....

As you get a little older the bucket list becomes more real.  I am going to be 59 in a couple of months.  Some things I would like to do become harder to accomplish as you get older.  Things like running a marathon are much harder to do as you age.  If you look around there are some older people running them so it would not impossible.  Yeah, for me, realistically it impossible.  I'm not doing that!!

Things that might have been on my bucket list when I was in my 20's or 30's just don't seem important anymore.  I mean some of those heart throb guys have gotten ugly!  And David Hasselhoff doesnt have Kit anymore!

It is really strange, but I don't think I would be upset if I didn't complete this fantasy "bucket" list in my lifetime.  I have things that I would enjoy doing, just for the fun of it.  I don't feel compelled to complete a list of things anymore.

I have raised four children who are happy, healthy and relatively successful.  My youngest is leaving for college in 20 days.  I feel I have accomplished the most important things in my life.

Now, the fun things!!!!

1.  I want to take a ride in a hot air balloon.

2.  I want to get to every state in the fifty states.  I have been to 20 some.  I would have to sit and count them up.

3.  I don't know how many countries I have visited (at least 10), but I would like to make it to several more.

4.  I would like to get fluent in French and then spend at least a month in France.

5.  I would like to take my grandsons somewhere special and enjoy it with them for the first time.

6.  I would like to get to 130 pounds (or whatever weight I get to and feel perfect)  and stay for the rest of my life.

7.  I want to be very physically fit!

Those things would be fun!  Everyone needs to have fun to enjoy life.

Summer Fun with Friendship Friday

  • Do you prefer to be indoors or outdoors on a hot summer day?
  • Poolside or park picnic – which invitation sounds more appealing?
  • What summertime activity do you dream of the most?

1.  I prefer to be outdoors.  I have spent the last 10 summers traveling with my son for his travel baseball league.  We traveled four days a week and went to several states.  This is my first summer to not travel.  I am used to sitting outside at ballparks about 4 days a week.  I have spent lots of time indoors this summer.  I have been spending time working in my garden.

2.  Poolside.  I love being around the water.  Parks are good too!

3.  I enjoy gardening.  I love flowers in bloom.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!!

  6. So much fun! And interesting that you say your bucket list changes as you get older. I wonder if mine has. I will think about that.

  7. And about your 3 questions:

    1) A mix of both. I like to be outdoors a lot, but around lunch time I hide indoors to protect my skin and get some fresh air.

    2) Poolside for sure, lakeside even better.

    3) Summertime activities I prefer are those that are done in the woods or on a lake. And, sipping on some good wine... :-)

  8. you are right, raising those four kids and getting them to be adults is a great accomplishment. I want to see every state...hopefully one day.

  9. I dunno. With the right attitude, just about anything can be an adventure. I had as much fun seeing the mosaiculture exhibit at our local Botanical Gardens (I posted about it on Tuesday, if you'd like to see the pictures. Really neat!) as I would have at another Garden in some exotic location. That being said, there are two things I'd like to do some day: see the aurora borealis... and see a duck-billed platypus. If I never do either, I won't be disappointed, though. I have thirteen beautiful grandchildren and a wonderful life with my husband. Who could ask for anything more?

As for inside or hot, it depends on the temperature. I can't handle HOT temperatures anymore, so I"m a bit of an air conditioning baby nowadays.

  10. Great list Betty and sounds like you are well on your way with the states and countries you have visited. Hope you get to as many as you would like, as well as get all on your bucket list come true for you. Thank you as always for linking up with us and hope you have a wonderful weekend now!!

  11. Hi Betty, You still have much enthusiasm for life, so you are actually very, very young. You still want to learn new things and challenge yourself, mentally as well as physically. That is a sign of youthfulness in mind and spirit. I have a friend just a few years your senior that is very old in mind and spirit.

His idea of a good day is a smooth bowel movement and a nap.

Life is for the living! So keep making yours sensational:)

  13. What a wonderful philosophy to have. You sound so centered and positive.
Love your before and after lists! Can so relate to all of them.

  14. Nice list! I have "visit all 50 states" on my list too. I've been to 40-something, mostly because my family is spread out across the country. Most of my missing states are in the northwest. I'd like to get to my goal weight and stay there too. :-)

  15. I find bucket lists depressing, LOL! You know, you could ride in a balloon by next week, and knock that sucker right off that list! :)

I've run a marathon, gotten lost in a scottish castle's dungeon in the dark, followed my heart with my art, and have my kiddos. Minus traveling, there's not a lot on my list. I just want to be happy. :)

  16. I love that you started with pointing out that you have already accomplished a lot. I am only 36, but I have three beautiful daughters and I hope that if I died tomorrow people would say I at least made a small difference!

  17. I don't have a bucket list either but, for this prompt, realized that there are some things I REALLY WANT. One is what you have already, and that's to raise my son to an age where I feel okay about it all. And the hot air balloon sounds amazing.

  18. I've seen the "I want to visit 50 states" one on a few FTSF bucket lists, I think! It's a good one. To hell with a marathon at any age!

  19. I'm 11 shy of visiting all 50 myself. I don't know if I'll make the rest, but maybe it will happen. The hot air balloon is a nice trip, but somewhat cramped, and if you've got to go to the bathroom, you're screwed. lol Great post!

  20. Great list Betty!! I think Betty has New Mexico in Sept. on her mind!!! We also have a smaller local one here in my area with less crowds than ABQ. Sounds like a great "to do" list.

  21. I think visiting every state is a good one. I'd like to do that too. :)

    I love your balloon pics!
