Bracing for the Blizzard

Today is a new day! This is the only day that counts!

We are sitting and waiting for the storm to hit.  They originally said by 7:00 this morning, now they are saying 1:00 this afternoon.  The forecast is changing all the time.  Last one I heard is around 10 inches, with 30 mph winds.  That sound blizzardy to me.  I'm not sure if that really a word? But it seems to describe what they are talking about.

I decided to run to the grocery store while it was still okay out.  I thought it might be packed but I think everyone must have gone yesterday and stocked up.  I have a feeling my teenage son will be stuck at home tomorrow and he'll be wanting food.  I bought him snacks like berries, tomatoes and lettuce, carrots and celery.   I bought more fish.   My son committed to eat healthy for Lent.  He isn't eating anything with added sugar.  Fresh fruits are okay.   He has a class every day at school with weight lifting.  It's really Advanced Physical Conditioning.  He practices baseball every evening.  He is in fantastic shape.  He is concerned about getting more defined abs.  I told him I would just like to find my abs.

This is off the subject, but I was told bloggers have the right to ramble.  My son's APC teacher sat the kids down in one class and talked to them about the book The 5 Love Languages.  He had them take the test to see what kind of person they were.  He explained about how he and his wife tested and how he has to work to see that she gets the interaction she needs.  The guys really look up to this teacher, the lesson had an impact.  They were talking about how important it is to connect with other people and give those people what they need.  He asked my husband and I to take the test.  He had guessed our results before we took it and he was right on both of us.  It generated a nice family conversation.  I wouldn't have expected this from a PE teacher.

I don't know if I really have anything to add on my weight loss goals today.  I am eating healthy, I am exercising.  I sneaked a peek at the scales today and it was down from yesterday, but I don't weigh in again until next Monday, I just hope it's down then!    All last week I lost a half pound.  When I got on today it was down a pound from yesterday.  I don't want to get too excited, I am measuring my goals weekly and fluctuations happen frequently.

Well if we get the snow I may be without power for a day or two.  If I don't post or answer comments that will be the reason why.  I am going to be stuck inside so I will probably be hopping around to all your blogs and saying hello as long as we have electricity and wi-fi.

Hope you all stay warm and safe!

    1. Well we are still waiting for the snow. If it is in Chicago, it's not far off. They just keep upping what we are getting. As long as the temperature stays up it is still rain. Maybe it will stay rain for a while (I Hope). Enjoy the game!

    1. Thanks, I just hope it doesn't fluctuate and when I way in next week I have a loss. I shouldn't be getting on the scale everyday, but it's hard not too!

    1. I haven't read it yet. My son told me I should get it and read it. I just loved that a male teacher is trying to teach the boys to be good men. I'm not celebrating until next Monday when it's an official weigh-in. But it still feels good!

  4. We're right in the middle of the storm right now. AccuWeather says "snow day unlikely" for tomorrow. Hmmm. Plow sightings are rare around here.

    Good luck on Monday.

    1. We probably have 5 inches. It is still coming down at a pretty good rate. Schools are all delayed for tomorrow.

    1. Yes I need to get the book. We need to work on our skills with other people all the time. We tend to sometimes take them for granted. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. I'll have to look into that book, because it sounds pretty neat. Especially coming from a PE teacher and sharing with his parents. That's pretty cool.
