Jump for Joy!!

Make sure to take a look at My Weight Loss Blog Directory!!!

Today was a day with the Grandsons!

Jump for Joy

I started out today watching the 5 year old grandson's first football game.  It was flag football.  It was fun watching 5 year old's trying to figure out what to do in a game.

The first couple of plays they all pretty much stood around while one boy ran down the field with the football.  Parents started coaching their sons from the sidelines, with yells of "grab his flag!"

I laughed when one dad got upset because his son grabbed the flag of the boy he was blocking.  He complained his son had no clue what was going on.  Most of the boys figured it out by about half way through the game.  Thankfully, the boy that grabbed the wrong kid's flag figured it out.  I'm glad because I think his dad was about ready to cry!

Lunch!

We made a stop at my daughter's house and then we went to lunch at Applebee's.  I was able to eat fairly well.  My younger grandson asked if he could have a crouton from my salad.  I forgot to ask for no crouton's so I had picked them off.  I told him sure.  He took one and took a bite and said, "I don't like those."  He then proceeded to tell us they probably "weren't any good because they were healthy." He older brother said, "we are at Applebee's, nothing's healthy!"  I think since there mom is a pediatrician they get talks about what is healthy pretty often.

Next stop Sky Zone!

Jump for Joy

I still hadn't done the fun birthday activity for my 5 year old grandson.  With sports and other activities we were way behind in getting it scheduled.  Since he is starting kindergarten next week I decided we needed to get it in this weekend.  I called and asked what he would like to do this week.  His older brother had gone to Sky Zone for a party, so of course that's what he chose to do.

Jump for Joy

When his older brother got to go for his fun activity, he didn't want the little brother to go, he just wanted my 18 year old son there. The little one wanted his older brother to go.  My 36 year old son wanted to go along this time.  I asked my grandson's mother, my 40 year old daughter if she would like to go.  I told her she could jump since I would be there following the 5 year old around.  She though it sounded like fun.

When we got there it was made up of several courts.  They had a jumping court, 2 dodge ball courts for different age groups, a basketball dunking court, and soft pit to jump into.

Everyone got their shoes on and got ready to jump.  Well, everyone but me.  I was just going to try to keep up with the 5 year old as he darted from court to court.

Jump for Joy

They all got ready and took off to jump.  The 5 year old started in the dodge ball court.  He was in for about 30 seconds on then took off because he was mad.  I wasn't sure what the problem was but he wanted to go home.  I couldn't get him to tell me for a few minutes, then he finally told me he hated the shoes.  Apparently, he got hit in the shoe as soon as he got on the court and he had to be out. Besides that, the shoes hurt his feet.

I told him to take off the shoes and go in his bare feet.  That made him happy.  I also told him when he went back on the court to stay in the back so they couldn't hit him as easily.  He followed my advice and was pretty happy the rest of the time.

It was a busy day and we had lot of fun.  I might have to return to Sky Zone and try jumping sometime soon.  My grown children said it was pretty exhausting and they had to take breaks, but they had fun.

In the last picture, my daughter is in the yellow tank and my son is in the gray t-shirt.  The birthday boy is in the green neon shirt laying against the wall.  The other grandson is a blur in the picture.

  4. Sky Zone looks great! I have been to bounce places with the grandkids and love going down the slides with them.
The best part of your post, for me, was your description of the over anxious dads on the "football" field! LOL Some things never change! Why introduce anxiety at such an early age when you can let your kid just relax and have fun - with probably much better results!

    1. Sky Zone is different. So much exercise. I didn't know the place existed until my grandson asked to go there.

The dads make me think surely there not serious, but they are. I worry about the pressure they put on the kids.

    1. Maybe there is one in your area. I think most kids would love it. I think in the winter time it would be a great place to us up some energy.

  8. I'm with Grandma J -- the Dad needs to chill! I really have to find a place like this near us. There are outdoor bouncy house places but nothing like this -- at least not that I have found. I'm betting Amara, her Mommy and I would have a blast! Good exercise! Just stopping by from the GRAND Social Linky Party.

    1. I hope you are able to find someplace like it. I'll bet they are getting into more areas. It seems to be very popular. I hope you all get the chance to try one.

  9. I had no idea there was a place you could go that is a roomful of connected, safe trampolines! Way better than Grandma's bed!

    1. I laughed when you said that because my kids used to go to Grandma's and jump on her bed. When my daughter spoke at her funeral last year, she was the grandchildren's representative, she talked about how much fun they had jumping on the bed at grandma's house.

It would be better for the bed and an really fun alternative to jumping on the bed. I hope they have something like it in your area. It is really fun. I think all the kids there were having lots of fun.

  10. What a fun day and what a good grandma you are. The jumping part still makes my heart race from my recent jumping experience. Don't know if I will dare get back on a trampoline. My day didn't turn out as well as yours. If you didn't see it you'll have to check it out. http://bit.ly/1cypCwD So glad you shared this at my party. I think jumping is one of the best exercises out there.
    Have a great day!
    Hugs,
    Marcie

    1. I haven't seen that post yet, but I will. My older kids are in really good shape but they found it exhausting, yet fun. I think the cardio is really fantastic.

  11. I am anxious to start checking out your weight loss journey, as I have definitely got to get myself on track...I had no clue how quickly the metabolism and downward spiral can hit if you aren't taking the right steps to stay in shape! So, I am 48 and a mess, lol!

    1. I'm sure you're not a mess. It really seems like it doesn't take long for the weight to creep up. It seems like it takes it forever to come off. I guess we are just having so much fun putting it on that it goes quickly.
