There are lots of motivators here!!
Weight Loss Motivation
I have been changing my eating habits and working on my weight loss for months. During the early months I was losing weight and not really seeing much in the shape of my body.
I had some slow progress and I stuck with it. I knew I needed to lose the weight for my health. I was seeing the numbers slowly change on the scales.
Eventually, I saw my clothes getting too big. I started changing sizes. A few people made some comments. I knew I was getting smaller.
I was exercising some, but I just couldn't seem to really get going with exercising daily and really working hard at it.
Now I wish I had! If I had been working hard for the last several months my muscles would be tight now. The good thing is if I work hard now they will be tight by spring when I put on shorts and when I get ready to put on a bathing suit again.
Motivation
Weight loss and exercise are hard to stick with because you don't see results overnight. It takes time and hard work. If you are working and watching your weight today you will see results for that later. It isn't going to be visible today. If you stick with it, you will see results.
I haven't been at many local events since school was out in June. Since my son moved away to college I haven't been at ball games and school events. Today I went to some places in town and saw people I haven't seen in a while. I was walking across the street and I heard someone yell, "If you lose any more weight, you are going to blow away!" I looked up to see who was talking and who they were talking too! I realized someone was talking to me! It was a shocker! I have had a few incidents like this in the last week. It took 33 weeks to get here!
I realize I have lost weight and this month I can really see it big time. I just didn't realize it was so obvious to others. When I look in a mirror I can't believe those are my legs. They are so skinny!
It has taken months to get here. Guess what! I am here! You can do it too! The most awesome part is, I have learned new habits over the last 8 months. I have developed different tastes. Some fruits taste almost too sweet for me now. You know when you go out to a restaurant and they sit bread on your table. I don't even notice the bread is there anymore! It's like a table decoration! Pretty, but I wouldn't want to eat it.
You can do this!! I will be 59 next week and I did it! You can do this too!
I would like to lose another 10 pounds or so. If I never lose another ounce and I stay this weight for the rest of my life, I will be okay with that. I am a freaking size 6! At one time in my life I wore a size 18. That's been a few years. In recent years, I have been up to a 14.
I am working out at the gym now. Why didn't I do this months ago? I can't go back, I can only go forward. I am going to work hard and get my muscles back into shape. In a few months, the work will show. I can't wait to get there and post pictures for you to see.
When I get to 40 pounds lost, if I get there. I will post pictures. I may even post some work out pictures in the next few weeks.
Please take your health into consideration and do this for yourself! I believe the Paleo/Primal/Low Carb eating is the way to go. Personally, I believe that if you just make some changes you will see results. I know there are things that everyone can eliminate from their diets or at least cut back on. I know for me that's processed sugar and wheat.
It has taken me 33 weeks to get here. Some of those weeks I didn't eat great. Some weeks were harder than others. Take a look back at some of the posts and you can see what was going on during those weeks. In June, I had a week where graduation cake was a major problem, and believe me I ate a bunch of that cake. Once the cake was out of my house I went right back to my eating habits. Probably more strict than before because I was afraid of failing.
If you have 100's of pound to lose and your saying, "well you only had to lose around 40 pounds, that's nothing!" If you start losing now you will probably lose faster since you have more to lose. You might lose 40 pounds in less than half the time it took me. It's possible you could lose twice the weight in the time it took me.
How would you feel about being 60-80 pounds lighter by spring. If you started today, 33 weeks is May 20. You could be much lighter by the time spring gets here!
I hope I have motivated you! I hope you are ready to get started and see where you are in the spring.

You are in the 140s - that's amazing! I loved every motivating word you wrote. The thing I like most about your story is that you didn't lose a lot fast. You lost a little each week slowly. Anyone who is trying to lost weight will TAKE the half a pound each week - am I right?? As long as the scale is moving in the right direction, you'll eventually get there.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work. I can't wait to see pics. :)
XOXO,
Meredith

p.s. I loved your picture/visual on Pinterest! I should pick your brain about it!
Great motivational post... although I go to the gym I do this more for cardio... I love cardio... the time has come for me to actually start strength training after my 5k run this weekend... Like you, I need to firm up :)
ReplyDeleteI always feel motivated when I hear success stories like this. You have really done well to keep up the healthy eating with exercise. Yes, it's very hard at first because neither you or your body is use to it, but after a while it becomes second nature. And the sound of someone telling you how good you look due to your weight-loss, is a wonderful noise to the ears.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss success. There really is no time like the present to really take care of yourself. So much of what you wrote resonated with me. My eating habits have changed in so many ways and all for the better. Feels great!
ReplyDeleteYou've done such an awesome job Betty! I'm down 40lbs in 6 months, but I have 40 to go. It is hard to keep that goal in sight with each food or exercise choice, but the thing is, there's no other way to get there. I just wrote a guest post for Tiffany from The Fit Train addressing making mini goals to keep you successful and keep your eye on the prize. It is a hard journey not to have reasons to feel proud all along the way!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! That's wonderful!! Must feel great!! I'm so happy for you and your happiness with the fast results!! You go girl!!
ReplyDeleteOh I am motivated! Dang look at your results. Go girl!!
