How to lose stomach fat

Make sure to take a look at My Weight Loss Blog Directory!!!

How to Lose Stomach Fat

When I started this blog I chose to name it Losing My Gut!  I was very upset with the size of my belly sticking out.  It had gotten to the point that it seemed to be the first thing that arrived anywhere.

I named this blot Losing My Gut hoping to lose weight and reduce the girth of my gut.  I have dieted before and haven't really reduced my stomach that much.

What I Found Out About How To Lose Stomach Fat

1.  High insulin causes stored belly fat. (Duh!  No wonder I was pre-diabetic!)

2.  Too little protein (Protein keeps insulin levels lower)

3.  High Cortisol (I'm still working on this one) which is caused by sleep deprivation and stress.

Diet To Lose Stomach Fat

I have been following The 100, which is mostly Paleo/Primal/Low Carb.  If you don't have the book it basically starts you out with very low carbs for about four weeks and then allows you to eat 100 sugar calories until you reach your goal and then increase your sugar calories to a maintainable level.

Sugar calories are any carbs multiplied by 4.  So that means you can eat 25 carbs daily.  My carbs are mostly fruits and vegetables.

Paleo is just eating real foods basically.  Real foods are things that are grown naturally and animals.

Here are foods you can eat:

  • Meat (local or grass-fed)
  • Eggs
  • Nuts
  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Seeds
  • Healthy Fats ( Avocado, Cococut Oil, and Olive Oil)
  • Water (Lots of water)
  • Flour (Such as almond meal and coconut flour) I have been staying low on these until I get to my goal weight.
  • Cheese (This is more on the Primal line, but I can't give up all cheese)

My Results

This picture was taken a few weeks ago.  I have lost 32 pounds, but more importantly it has gone from my stomach.  I am seeing the beginnings of the body I had when I was younger.  I still have some stomach fat, but I seeing it decreasing each week.

How to Lose Stomach Fat Wrap-up

I hope you took a look at those blogs.  The great thing is myself and the others are all around 60.  Marc is the youngster in the group at 57.  I'm going to be 59 next month, and Gwen is already in her 60's.
If we can do this, it has to be easier for those of you that are younger.

Maybe it's time to do a Paleo/Primal Challenge!

Anyone interested?

    1. Thanks Trina! Give it a try! It is the easiest way to lose weight I have found. I don't have cravings for sweets at all. I tasted something my husband had over labor day and it was way too sweet. I just had something off the tip of the spoon and didn't want more.

  2. I think you are doing wonderful Betty... I am eating really healthy... I do eat some carbs but mostly lean meat, fruit and vegetables. I lost quite a bit of my tummy since I have lost over 37 pounds... my issue is more my butt size.... that will take a long time... I'm good with being curvy ;-)

    1. You are really doing alot of Primal, I believe. Are you just adding some whole grain carbs? It is way better to have the butt than the stomach. The stomach is so bad for heart health.

    2. I eat whole grain wraps, wild rice, whole grain crackers (like wheat thins) .... not a lot but I also don't eat very much meat... some eggs, turkey... a little chicken... mostly fruit and veggies :-D

  3. Awesome info! I haven't gotten too into research of different diet choices and don't follow any specific plan. I love getting the info in small doses, though! Cuts down on how overwhelming it can be. This is what works for me now, but I'm so interested in learning about healthier choices for the future. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I don't think I can say it 3 times fast! I wanted to think of other people to show how great the paleo/primal diet worked and you and Gwen were the first ones to pop into my mind. You both have had such great success.

Thanks! Maybe I'll have to come up with a new name!

  8. Wow! You look amazing! It sounds like you are on the right track. There are different things people are trying for high cortisol on the adrenal fatigue forum on curezone. Some are treating low cortisol and some are treating high. You may already know what it is to take but thought I'd leave an extra resource just in case.
